A typed carbon copy of a paper describing the newspapers that served the towns around the mines on the Vermilion Range in St. Louis County (Minnesota) outside of Duluth. Schaefer gives information on the various newspapers and the people who worked on them, including his own founding of the Ely Miner. The paper was read at the annual convention of the St. Louis County Historical Society at Virginia, Minnesota on August 7, 1923.
